Zadruga

Zadruga Bulgarian Folk Ensemble was a group directed by Jack Kinneer.

Zadruga played a large roll at Zorba's Folk Dance Coffeehouse as it was an in-house dance group in addition to the Zorbas Dancers which was directed by Athan Karras.

Realizing that Polynesian dancing was what he really loved, Zadruga was disbanded to form the Ote'a Polynesian Folk Ensemble in 1973.

It is interesting that Zorbas has been left out of the picture in the folk dance scene and yet it was one of the major dance spots in California even though it was a small place out in the San Fernando Valley. People would come from San Diego, Santa Barbara, and other outlying areas to dance there.
